快赢彩票软件快三下载 OVERVIEW

Singapore supports disarmament and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We view progress in nuclear disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation in all its aspects as essential to strengthening international peace and security. Efforts toward nuclear disarmament, global and regional non-proliferation initiatives, and confidence building measures complement one another and should, as far as possible, be pursued simultaneously to promote peace and security.

Effective non-proliferation efforts require global and regional cooperation. Thus, Singapore participates actively in various fora, such as the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and ASEAN, and in initiatives such as the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI), the European Union’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Centre of Excellence (CoE), and the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT). Singapore was also the first country in Southeast Asia to put in place a stringent export controls system to regulate the flow of strategic goods and safeguard against the illicit movement of goods and technology that relate to the development, production and use of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, missiles capable of delivering such weapons, as well as conventional arms and military equipment.

Singapore also subscribes to effective implementation and rigorous national legislation and standards, which are regularly reviewed. We are party to the following international disarmament and non-proliferation treaties:

  • Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons;
  • Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty;
  • Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction;
  • Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction;
  • Treaty on the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone; and
  • Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and its 2005 Amendment.
